Gus can tell you how it all started.....
"My wife and I have lived in Holbrook for 25 years. We raised our family and have watched the neighborhood grow as the years went by. I came to America from Greece in 1978. I worked in my cousin's restaurant for a few years, and then soon after I opened my own coffee shop in Huntington. I was in Huntington for 18 years before opening The Greek Islands Restaurant. It has always been a dream of mine to open a Greek restaurant. Since I live in Holbrook, I saw the development of this new shopping center and decided to open a Greek restaurant." Gus serves incredibly delicious Greek foods, but you won't feel out of place if you order American food instead. The hamburgers and fries are high quality, and the "Kids Corner" has great selections of yummy foods for kids. "I've combined Greek and American ways to create my new resturant menu. I hope everyone is happy with the food and service. We hope you will feel at home at the Greek Islands Restaurant, and will feel comfortable telling your friends about our fine restaurant". Angela and Gus serve up their complimentary Chick Peas and Pita Bread before each meal. The pita bread is warm and tender, the chick peas soaked in onions and olive oil. Next comes dinner! |
